Graduate Student Workshop Winners
KSL and the Graduate Studies Office held an all day workshop for pre-dissertation students on Thursday, Jan. 7. Speakers and panels covered a wide range of topics and shared valuable information. Afternoon breakout sessions with librarians included a $25 gift certificate to the bookstore for 4 lucky students from the groups!

Science Librarian Shu Guo leads one of the four sessions on finding specialized library content & services.
Gift certificate winners were Imre Treufeld (Chemistry), Kadhir Sanmuganathan (Engineering), Bibi Potts (WSOM) and Paul Bakaki (Epidemiology & Biostatistics).
From copyright Q&A to dissertation process expectations to what's expected of postdocs during the subsequent 10 years and beyond, the presenters offered valuable and practical insights on the experience, career potential, research ethics, and personal reflections.
As students concluded with "thank you, I did not know these things," and "I'm going to right back and try these dissertation searches," "I've been using the same 2 databases for years, thanks for showing me more!" to arranging for department seminars with librarians, it was a highly productive day. Sign up for a free CaseLearns class on many of the library research & publication topics, and watch for the workshop to repeat next year...
