Research Posters & More @KSL!
If you've seen Research ShowCase, SOURCE, or campus poster presentations lately, several hundred students printed their posters at KSL, in the Center for Statistics and Geospatial Data. They didn't just print them, though, they consulted with experienced staff at KSL to ensure a great poster presentation experience for the author—and the audience!
Offering more than commercial print centers, staff at KSL guide students in formatting, high quality image details, text density (less-is-more), and other details that create effective visual posters so they provide a great learning experience for everyone.
It's important to understand the audience point of view, says Ann Holstein, Manager of GIS Systems and Numeric Data Services. As an experienced consultant, she says you can learn the key points in the poster appointments so you educate your audience...but always "leave 'em wanting more!"

Students can learn how to use special software like ESRI ArcGIS to integrate data & geography, generating map images. For some disciplines, those are important software skills that will remain throughout a career, or be the the start of a new one.
International students often benefit from some help to refine grammar, since experienced staff evaluate text and may suggest word substitutions. For all students, a poster presentation may be a new learning experience, and the Kelvin Smith Library staff aim for everyone to have a "polished and professional" poster from the Center.
