Celebrate the Book and Paper Arts at Octavofest
Octavofest returns to NE Ohio with a month-long series of events that engages artists and book lovers. Kelvin Smith Library will be hosting events in a celebration of both contemporary book & paper arts as well as fine and rare book collections.
Libraries, organizations, and museums in our area welcome the public at lectures, demonstrations, tours, open houses, and exhibits that showcase printmakers, paper sculptors, conservators, bookbinders, and others.
On Wednesday, October 20th, 2010, KSL hosts events for An Afternoon/Evening at University Circle:
• Kelvin Smith Library, 3-4 pm Dampeer Room, Jamye Jamison (Associate Paper Conservator, ICA), "Care and Handling of Paper Based Materials"
• Kelvin Smith Library, 4-5:30 pm, "Significant Items from Special Collections," Exhibit and Open House, Special Collections Department.
• Open House Tour 4-5:30 pm, of the Preservation Department at Kelvin Smith Library. See repair & restoration in action, specialized equipment, staff, and more.
Other events that day include the Cleveland Museum of Art Ingalls Library, and the Cleveland Institute of Art Gund Library,with a day-long exhibit "Celebrating books made by artists: selections from the Cleveland Institute of Art's artists' books collection."
(Registration is available on the calendar where it is required for events that have limited seating.) Join us on the 20th, and throughout the month, for artistic and cultural events at Octavofest!
