Let the Music Move You...Ohio Archives Month Features CWRU image
Once again a University Archives image has been submitted to the Society of Ohio Archivists and selected for their Archives Month poster. The 2010 theme honors the diverse and rich cultural musical heritage of Ohio that is preserved for the researchers of today and the future.
Let the Music Move You...Ohio Archives Month October 2010 features a group photo of the Guitar and Mandolin Club (College for Women), from 1899. (Download the official poster, and look for CWRU on the upper left side.)
CWRU University Archives images have graced the Ohio Archives Month posters: in 2008: Elections in the Archives (student election day, Mather College, 1945, and announcement flyer for 1919 meeting of the WRU College for Women Suffrage Club); and in 2007 for Reunions: Together at the Archives (1955 WRU alumni reunion.)University Archives' collections keep university history alive for the future, whether it's student yearbooks, buildings, coaches & teams, people & presidents, events, and the schools & colleges of our institution.
October is Ohio Archivists' Month, with events, exhibits, and collections featured and shared by museums, libraries, societies and other organizations around Ohio.
Started by the Society of Ohio Archivists (SOA) in 1993 as a weeklong event, the Ohio celebrations during the month of October now aim to increase general awareness of archival materials & centers, to focus on materials with broad appeal, to inspire the proper preservation for the ages of an organization's materials, and to continue to foster user interest & involvement for ongoing documentary heritage.
