The Rise and Fall of the Bible

Returning to Off the Shelf is Timothy Beal, Florence Harkness Professor of Religion here at Case Western Reserve University, and prolific author of books and essays on religion and American culture. He joined me previously when we discussed his book Biblical Literacy. For episode 18, I sit down with Tim to discuss his latest book entitled The Rise and Fall of the Bible: The Unexpected History of an Accidental Book.

Case is lucky to have such a well-spoken, thoughtful, and dedicated teacher. This interview suggests he challenges both his students and himself to think of this cultural icon in new and different ways.

Thanks for the podcast!
