Whish i would have done that

Participate more in the class, that's what I wish I would have done more of in this class. I think what prevented me from participating more often is that most of what se discussed in class was not very interesting and boring. And it's not like I have nothing to say, but it was just lack of interest, and me getting bogged about people making some very obvious comments. What's interesting though that from talking to several classmates that are taking this course the general feeling they have for the course is the same, boring and not very interesting. I mean some of the stuff we do are very helpful and I’m glad we did them, but the in class stuff are like I said boring. Hope next semester’s class will be a littlie bet more fun to go to.

I agree with you. I also wish I would have participated more in class, but some of the topics were just very boring and failed to capture my interest. I also feel like I learn best when I sit back and take things in and then draw connections in my head. I am definitely not a fan of making participation part of your grade because I feel that just makes some people more concerned with making sure they get in their obligatory 2-3 comments than actually learning and making connections.

I agree with your thoughts on commenting in class. The grading system for class participation led to lots of redundant comments that often bogged down discussion. I, too, felt that some discussion was difficult to encourage and, at times, forced. The best discussions usually involved specific cases, since those are most likely to have potential for truly different opinions on the topics. A discussion on performance appraisals, for instance, is not as likely to lead to thoughtful discussion as one on the Tom Mendola case. Overall, I wish I had been more involved in class discussions, but I also feel that there weren't that many discussions I felt truly engaged enough in to want to participate beyond the requirement for my grade.

The class was boring ????

boring is an understatement!

participation grade was huge... no one liked it and poeple who didn't do anything put a 3 for nothing, and we, the people who write a 2 for sitting, get bad grades in the end.

i personally passionatly hated the class, the grading and the subject.
