I have enjoyed this option of the contract a lot. I may also continue to write in this blog. One good thing about continuing the blog after my class is I don't have to worry about spelling and grammar as much. Overall, the blogging was a good experience. I never even knew what a blog was before this class. Now I know a lot about them and how popular they are. I look forward to winter break and finishing finals. I hope everyone has a great vacation after finals.

In our group we split up the work so everyone had an even amount. Our team leader then put it all together. Overall, the HR simulation was a good process. There was a lot to learn about the human resource position. I am also relieved it’s all over.

Today was our last class of MGMT250. It was a quick class. We talked about what we learned and what could be improved. My favorite part of the class was the networking session. I had no suggestions on how to improve the class. I learned a lot throughout the management course so far. I remember learning about how body language can display a lot to another person. It is important to keep track of your eye contact, posture, space, and touching. After the debriefing, Professor Johnson came to talk to us.

Professor Poonamallee talked about the human resource simulation. We talked about what we liked and disliked. I enjoyed the whole process of learning what a human resource manager does in their position. Professor Poonamallee only talked for about 15 minutes. After she was done we all said goodbye and left the class. I can't wait untill MGMT251.

Today in class we talked a lot about employee hiring. There are a lot of criteria one should look at before hiring an employee. We also talked about whether it’s better to hire young or old employees. In my opinion, it depends on the job. There was also talk on how to tell if an employee is honest or not. There are many different ways to check. Some ways are to call up there references, run background checks, look at their body behavior, etc. After the class we got to evaluate the MGMT250 course. I rated the course highly, but I won’t go into specifics. I have really enjoyed this course so far and look forward to MGMT251 next semester.

Today's class theme was on feedback. We talked about the advantages and disadvantages of giving and receiving feedback. Feedback can motivate people to work harder, or create a negative vicious cycle. Some of the things included in the vicious cycle were procrastination and jealousy. Overall, I feel feedback is a good thing because it shows areas one can improve on.

After our class talk, we broke up into our HR groups. We were each given a specific scenario. It was our goal to think of solutions to resolve the scenarios peacefully. Our scenario was about a group leader of a team who did all the work and did not let his teammates participate. We suggested that the team confront the leader and ask what he was looking for. They could also all type up the report together. Once we formalized our results we presented them in front of the class. This was another great class assignment that I learned from.

Today in class we talked a lot about goals. We picked up 17 posted notes and wrote down a goal on each. The goals we wrote down are ones we wish to complete in our lifetime. After we wrote down all 17 of our goals we had to group them into categories. I grouped my goals into the categories: short term, long term, financial, family, and personal goals. We then discussed and shared our goals as a class.

This project helped my understanding with the learning plan. Using these goals I will be able to finish my second part of the project. We did this exercise to help us with our future life, and completing the learning plan assignment. I am glad we did this project. However, the best part of the class was that we got out 25 minutes early.
I have done a lot of case analysis papers for my marketing class and have received excellent grades on them. However, on my management case I did poorly. I went to see the TA who corrected it and she said most of it was due to the writing style. She told me my writing style affects all four parts of the paper including the part that is specifically labeled writing style. I told her it was unfair to take off points in every section, but she disagreed. She did give me valuable advice for writing future case papers. I just wish I had this advice before I wrote my first one for the class.
