Not quite Bikram Yoga

A few weeks ago, I saw something on the tube about Bikram yoga, which is essentially power yoga in a sauna-hot room. The sweating is supposed to be good for you. Ick.

But I came close today.

I had planned to go to the free lunchtime yoga on the case quad today, and I didn't let the weather stop me. It was 89 (feels like 95), but the instructor was kind and kept it pretty low key.

My hips are feeling a lot better. I've been trying to stretch them out a lot, but the yoga stretched them in more ways than what I've been doing.

I don't know exactly what's wrong with them. They hurt a lot. One of the main reasons I think I've begun to fall apart. My doctor advises me to just take ibuprofen. *sigh* I'm about thisclose to run screaming to alternative medicine, but that's a post for another time.

Go Librarians! *Wuff*Wuff*Wuff*Wuff*

It's not often that librarians score a political victory, so I feel obliged to cheer them on now that the House has blooked the Patriot Act provision that allowed surveillance of library records.

Unfortunately, this morning's news consumption was a good-news-bad-news thing, as I heard on NPR that photographers are being questioned and sometimes detained by police who think it's now illegal to photograph bridges, public buildings, infrastructure, etc. (It's not.)

Oy!

I hope they don't discover any of the pictures of me and my sister with the Golden Gate bridge in the background from a decade ago.

I visted Pittsburgh about two years ago and security there chased me away when I tried to photograph the castle-like PPG buildings.

The big kahuna is done

Yes. The viewbook is finally printing. This is good because I think if I felt compelled to proof it one more time, my eyes would have fallen out.

Some Meetings Require Ice Cream

I really like my job. The environment is just good for me.

Like to day. After the three of us in the group reviewed our Big Kahuna of a project, we sat down to talk through the changes and issues and Bob says, "We should have ice cream for this," or something. And I said, "let's go." And we went to the University Hospital Atrium and got ice cream and discussed the project. See, now, that's what I like about Bob's managerial style.
