Battling Unethical Behavior

Ethics in the workplace are very important for every business. Lack of ethics used to cost a company I work for large amounts of money.

Roughly half of the “shrink”, the term used for the difference between the amount of money the company should make and the amount of money the company actually makes, was made up by theft perpetrated by employees. The managers addressed this issue with a mandatory orientation program where they showed a video from company headquarters. It did not seem that this video was very effective in convincing potential burglars from stealing from the company. In addition to the video, the managers should have spoken to us themselves and made the message more serious. This is because the short video made it seem like something the managers were forced to do and that the issue was not really important.
