ITS HPC Cluster Update

April 14, 2008

[ return to the news list ]

Downtime: There is downtime scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM on Tuesday 22 April 2008 so that some hardware changes can be made. We may keep the cluster down as long as 72 hours if needed, but will be back in operation sooner if possible.

Hardware: We are in the process of ordering approximately 128 new processors for the cluster and hope to have the new hardware operational in May without any additional downtime.

Data Center: We have tentative plans to move the cluster to its new home in the Kelvin Smith Library data center in July. This will require a few days of downtime. The dates will be announced when they are know with certainty.

As always, the best and most up to date information on the cluster can be obtained at http://wiki.case.edu/ITS/High_Performance_Computing_Cluster.
