Facebook: A Digital Community For the Future
The question is IT good or bad is one that is quite tough to answer. First of all, without IT we would not be able to function in todays society. It offers us more leisure than we know. A simple gas station or bank would not work without IT. On the other hand, IT offers a path for criminals to make some money. IT can be responsible for computer hacking and schemes that may be responsible for people losing there jobs and more. Even an identity of a person can be taken due to IT. So IT is bad, but in my opinion everything has risks, and without IT the world would be worse off. Due to IT, and how much it offers us , I would like to talk about a new website and internet communnity called facebook. Well, facebook is not exactly a new community, it has been around for a couple of years. facebook has dominated the college communnity as well as high schools, and corporations. I consider facebook a perfect example of a digital communnity. a digital communnitty is described as an econmomy based on digital technologies. Without digital technologies, facebook would not be around. I can describe facebook as an online directory for students and adults. Yet, what makes it so special is that there is more than just a picture and descripton of who you are. Facebook allows it's users the ability to make new friends. You can make these requests at any time. Also, you can get rid of friends at any time. Facebook also allows people the chance to communicate by writing on eachothers walls. This is pretty much the same as talking to someone. Also, any pictures or videos can be uploaded on facebook and sent throughout the entire community. Facebook has its own directory, that gives people the ability to plan events and ask other facebook members to join them . This is even easier that making invitations and mailing them plus , it is free because facebook is an online communnitty that has no costs.
Facebook is a digital economy and part of the new economy. People can make friends, plan events, send pictures, invitations, and more all on facebook. You do not have to go anuywhere except n front of your computer. It is part of our great economies information system, the internet. The fastest and largest growing information sharing device available. Facebook is one of many digital economies. There are others like it, but none quite the same. I am sure in the future more digital economies will be available, due to the convienence of information sharing.
Also, I believe that digital economies will give people the availability to do more than just share simple information. I beleieve everyday activites such as shopping, paying bills, etc... will all be done in a digital communitty and I am sure there is probably already one out there. Digital communities are up and coming, and soon will take over the internet.
