Archives for the Month of September 2008 on SAGES Cafe

'Delicious' news!

Ah, fall. Crisp breezes, crisp leaves, and crisp...apples! Here at the SAGES cafe, we know the autumn season isn't complete without biting into a juicy, locally grown apple. Unfortunately, the splendid apple farms in the eastern suburbs of Cleveland are hard to reach by bus or foot. So (drumroll please) your caring Sagistas are bringing these treats to YOU! Beginning Monday, September 29th, SAGES cafe will be offering hand-picked, fresh and locally grown apples. The varieties will change on a weekly basis, so be sure to check back often. If there is an apple that you absolutely LOVE, be sure to tell a Sagista and perhaps you will see an encore of your favorite variety! Price per apple will vary depending on the type of apple. See you Monday!

Cool up, warm down

The weather is turning. The days are noticeably shortening and the warm weather goes more than it comes anymore.
Alas, alack, this means one main thing at the SAGES Cafe: the end of Frio Fridays.

Come this Friday, September 19th, for the Final Frio Friday (extravaganza!!!). For the last time this year, you will be able to get a medium size Frio Latte in the flavor of your choice for only $2.00. The Sagistas have been made aware of how much everyone loves Frio Fridays and we are working to come up with an autumn special to appease those Frio loving taste buds.

We invite you all in this Friday to make sure Summer goes out with a big Frio-y bang!

(And don't be too sad...pumpkin and peppermint perfections are already on their way.)

Winners Revealed!

The end of the summer has come, and so the end of summer must also therefore signify the end of the Summer Postcard Contest. I would like to say a huge THANK YOU on the behalf of the Sagistas and the cafe community (I saw you all checking out those postcards daily) to everybody who took a moment in their travels to think of us and send us some happy thoughts.

As promised, winners have been chosen in three categories, which are listed below. Congratulations to our winners!!!

Farthest Distance from the Cafe:
Timothy Wutrich and Annie Pecastaings, sent from Lyon, France (4132 miles away!)
Postcard written while sitting at another Peet's location:
Solomon Awe, sent from Tomlinson Hall
[okay, so although that may not be another Peet's location, it was likely that friend Solomon was enjoying a Peet's beverage as he wrote us that postcard]
Overall Funniest Postcard:
Robin Snyder, sent from Meredith, NH

And now a special mention of our other participants:

Jordan Rudesill, sent from Plano, TX
Paula Santa, sent from Ireland (special mention in the farthest distance category! 3456 miles from Cleveland to Dublin!)

All of our customers are invited to stop by and check out the display board of postcards while they are up.

Thanks again!
