Busy Week

Saturday, I got back from Vancouver. Today, I realize that I'm going to be very busy for the forseeable future: I went to Doc Oc's celebration yesterday (more about that later), I'm going to the Indians-Twins game tonight with Dan, I have a retirement party at lunch tomorrow and a Regional track meet at Amherst tomorrow afternoon. Saturday, I'm working the same track meet, and I have to work all of the Memorial Day weekend.

I lead far too busy of a life. I need to stop and smell the roses...

who am I kidding???? ;-) like I'm ever going to stop doing this!!!

OK, Doc Oc's celebration. Well, it was really moving to see just how many people showed - students, faculty, staff, his neighbor. All of Hovorka atrium was filled with people there to remember and celebrate the life of a really great person. There were some sad moments, but once the planned speakers had their say, it was more interesting to hear what everyone else said during the open mic period. So many people, so many touched lived - such and impact on me and my school community. It's too bad Doc couldn't be there - he would've had a really good time! Oh, and he really would've like the food, too!

The ultimate sign of respect, that I observed though, was that nobody walked in, took food, and left. People stayed. People talked. People laughed. Doc would have been happy.
