Expectations for MGMT 251
I am not entirely sure of what is going to be covered in MGMT 251, but I get the feeling that the class will be fairly similar to this class. For one thing, we know that the Learning Plan is going to carry over to 251, which I know nobody is very happy about. Also, Prof. Piderit said there would be group work, which I personally enjoy because it makes it easier to keep the workload under control. I am looking forward to having Prof. Piderit because from my experience she seems to know the material and is very helpful when help is needed. I am hoping that the class with teach us a lot of useful things like MGMT 250 did and am looking forward to seeing what the class has to offer.
Final Thoughts on the Class
Overall, I was pretty pleased with this class. I got a lot out of the class and at the same time the work load was definitely manageable. I also never realized how helpful the Career Center could be until they came and talked to us all those times throughout the semester. I definitely plan on using the resources of the Career Center as I get closer to looking for an internship and even my career down the road. The teaching crew was also very helpful throughout the semester if we needed any help and in my particular case they were very understanding about my situation after having shoulder surgery. Some college professors would not have worked with me as much as this group of professors did and I really appreciate them doing that. I enjoyed this class.
Final Learning Plan
I am sure I speak for the majority of the class when I say that I am basically clueless on what to expect from the final Learning Plan. I do not know how mine will end up because it is hard to come up with specific goals when I am only a sophomore in college. I feel like I have not taken enough of my business classes to know exactly what direction I want to go. Basically, I want to get as specific as I am able to get and try and make a decision on where I would want to be in the future based on this point in my life. I do like the fact that we are able to do the second part in bullet points because I think that bullet points will help me to keep in concise and to keep my thoughts organized. The one thing that I do know is that I will be extremely happy when the Learning Plan is done with.
HR Simulation Final Thoughts
Now that the HR Simulation is over with I thought I would take a look back at my experience and give a few of my thoughts. First of all, our group was very fortunate in that we never experienced any problems from beginning to end. I was also very happy to find out that each person in our group carried his or her own weight in the project. The work was distributed evenly each week and we took turns writing up the incident reports. It was beneficial for our group that a person was not shy about giving their opinions. If somebody thought something was a bad idea they would point it out to the group and we would find a solution quickly and easily. I had a good experience overall with the HR Simulation and as I said in class it was nice getting to know the people in my group.
Second Annual Report
The second Annual Report was pretty trivial in my opinion. I know that a company has to do Annual Reports, but in our case nothing changed between the years and our report ended up being very similar to the one that we had put together for the first year. There were only two or three new things to address in the second year and otherwise we simply had to update the information from our first Annual Report. I am not complaining about this because we all have a lot of work to do so it was nice not having to worry too much about this second report, but as I said it just seemed a little trivial. Now that our report is completed I feel much better because all that is left for me to deal with in this class in the Learning Plan.
