Second Life Halloween Party
In Cleveland's small part of the vast Second Life world, the Second Life team has been hard at work transforming the land into a huge Halloween Party! It will be held this Friday, November 2nd, 2007, from 9PM-11PM on the ClevelandPlus island in Second Life.
A lot of innovation has been implemented into the planning and execution of the upcoming event. Expect a lot of interactive areas where the you will be able control the environment and have a different experience than you might expect. Some things to look forward to are a live DJ, whose music will be streamed live in real-time through an external application and into Second Life.
In addition to the live DJ, there will be a dance floor floating midst the air where you can "fly" up and get your groove on while enjoying the music.
What's Halloween without a costume? The Team has also been hard at work to create a variety of different outfits free to the public to try on, wear, and keep! Once in your new costume, you will feel more in the mix of things with the completely decked out Halloween island. Also, there will be scary videos streamed throughout the island, a haunted house, and other Halloween filled goodies. Much more is to be expected, but it's up to you to see for yourself!
The team is really happy to open their hard work and creativity to the public and this is a great chance to not only see how CWRU's campus in Second Life has evolved, but also to have a great time participating in a not so ordinary Halloween party.

Take a Second Look into Second Life
A lot of new faces have been seen lately working on Case's very own Second Life experience. Although the time spent on the project has been relatively short for everybody, there have been a lot of good things going on.
Paul has brought in a new aspect of mapping texture with the use of Blender Importer. The packages he used along with Second Life can be found here. Detailed instructions on his work
Craig's main focus has been on a working scoreboard for a soccer field and scripting and building new items for the upcoming Halloween Party. The scoreboard changes on the fly as a goal is scored for either team and counts up to 9.

He has also been busy working on Halloween costumes. He created this fake lighting effect for the inside of a carved pumpkin.
Jacob's focus has also been on creating Halloween costumes. With the use of invisiprims, he was able to manipulate the physical appearance of an avatar by "hiding" normal prims with the invisiprims.

Josh is currently in the progress of implementing a lab for Chem 113 students which could be taken through Second Life. Actual lab instructions that will be seen in a thinkbook in SL will be up once they are approved.
Of course Sue is busy as well. She is spending time making a prim cape which will flow fluidly with movement. An inventory script has also been created which is much easier to newcomers in SL. In this script, when the object of focus is touched, all of the contents will be moved automatically into the user's inventory.
Come back soon to learn more about the exciting things being accomplished!
