Student Job Scam Message

November 8, 2008

Case received a scam message addressed to students the week of November 3, 2008.

The message is from a "Professor David Hill" soliciting students to participate in a job marketing "opportunity."

The message arrived from a source in Bulgaria, not a hotbed of internet research, and is most likely a prequel to additional social engineering.

Here is the header of the message;

"Dear Student,

Are you interested in working part-time during the academic year?
Our organization offers competitive remuneration for participating in simple on-line surveys and forum discussion groups. What we offer is work from the comfort of your own computer, determine your working time, express your opinion freely about different kinds of products and services, and be paid well. This is a great Summer job opportunity, too."
