In a comment to a previous post, G provided a link to an excellent flowchart that creates ground rules for debating Christians (though indeed it applies to all topics, not just Christianity or even religions in general) that should prevent fruitless discussions.

Hmm...interesting - I wonder who would be the first to break the basic principles and refuse to 'agree to disagree'!
I LOVE this chart! Having had to sit through at least 3 absolutely inane conversations/"debates" at work in the past month, I vote that it receive broader coverage as "rules to debate people by".
What a lovely flowchart, this really is the way human beings should exchange their ideas.
