I need sleep

So one thing I've learned over the past year- I'm never going to get enough sleep again. Just when you think you can't stand getting up every night 3 or 4 time a night with a newborn- they suddenly are getting up only twice and you start to feel better because you are getting better quality sleep in longer periods. Eventually they sleep though the night and you think "Ah! Blessed sleep! Glorious Sleep! How I missed you! Thank You God for teaching my babies how to sleep through the night!"

Then one night they get sick and you're up with them. You think to yourself "I can do this for one or two nights. I'll just go to bed earlier tomorrow or try to squeeze in a nap somewhere. My Babies need me and I know they can sleep though the night so this is just temporary."

This happens a few times. Then all of the sudden you hit a spurt we are currently going through. I like to call it-I will never sleep again! EVERY night for the past 2 weeks one or both of the boys has been awake. First it was because they had croup and now? Well who the hell knows why they are up now!?! It appears that they are hungry. Are they not getting enough food during the day at daycare? Do we need to add another snack to their day? Are they making up for being sick? Are they going through a growth spurt?? Will I ever sleep all night again!

And so begins year 2

The boys turned One year old on Friday. It was sort of bitter sweet for me. On one hand I've loved seeing them grow and change so much and I look forward to seeing them develop and change more. But now my little babies are no longer babies. They are growing and and becoming so independent (oh and the temper tantrums when they want their way)!

Chip started walking a week ago on Sept 21st. He's not very good at it yet. He can take about 3 steps before he falls over. Or my favorite, he goes to take a step with his leg raised and then falls over sideways. He looks around like "How did I get down here?"

Dale started walking a few weeks ago so he's gotten good enough to walk across the room before he falls down. When he was still at Chip's level, he'd get so excited about moving forward that suddenly he'd start walking sideways-really fast. It was almost as if he was being pulled off a vaudville stage with a big hook. Cracks me up just thinking about it.

For those in the "know"- Chip is Baby A and Dale is Baby B.
