Pumpkin Muffins

This morning I'm changing Dale. He's still sleepy and he's making cute lovey faces at me, so we were spending some quality time together. I knew that Chip was behind me on the floor. I assumed he was playing with a toy or finishing off his bottle. I was wrong.

He was sitting on the floor, oh so quietly smashing up my pumpkin muffin. It was every where. Sigh. Thank goodness for Dustbusters.

After that he was in an exteremly good mood. He babbled and giggled all the way to day care in the car and smiled at everyone as we walked in to the building. It makes it hard to leave. I want to be around him when he's happy like that. It's contageous.

10 days down and 2 to go!

I am exhausted! Not just tired. Not just sleepy. I am bone wearily, utterly, body-not-responding exhausted! I know it would be tough to single parent for two weeks while hubby is off jaunting around Europe but I had no idea. Next time, I'm taking days off work! Today I called in 1/2 a vacation day just so we could all sleep some more. I was so tired when I woke up at 5:20am that I walked in to the door, not once but twice. My head hurt, my arms hurt, my stomach hurt, my eyes hurt. I knew I'd never make the drive to work and still be awake. Good thing I took the morning off.

I wasn't the only one suffering from these early morning wake ups. The boys were beat too. They didn't wake up until 8:30am!!! 8:30! You know your babies have been pushed too far when they are screaming to go to sleep and then sleep 2 hours later then normal for a total of 13 hours! And then nap again an hour later.

After we all woke up, got fed, and dressed, I decided that we should run a few errands before we went to daycare and work. Too bad that didn't happen. No! On the way to the store, I ran over the biggest hunk of metal I've ever seen (Ok I'm exaggerating here). My tire went flat IMMEDIATELY! Before I even got over one lane, BOOM! It was flat. I had a HUGE 4 inch hole in the tire. So big you could stick your fingers into the tire. Chip and Dale took a nap (Thank God) while I read the paper and chilled for a little bit as we waited for the Toyota Service to come change my tire. It took them long enough but they finally got to us on the side of the highway with cars whizzing past at Autobahn speeds.

Note to self: Make sure you pay the AAA bill next time. This is the 6th or 7th time this has happened to you.

Oh and next time hubby says "I'm going away for work"- try not to scratch his eyes out.

First Words- yeah!

Chip never stops talking. The kid babbles all the time. And when he's not babbling he makes noises with his mouth like he's rapping. Oh and he LOVES to make Indian noises. You know the ones kids do where they bang they hand against their mouth while making one noise? He was cracking us up in the car with all the noises he was making. DH said it sounded like he was bored. I said to DH that I have this feeling someday we'll be saying "Chip, can we have just 5 minutes? 5 Minutes of quiet. Just 5 minutes? Please? Can you do that?"

Chip says things like Ma-ma, da-da, day-day, ba-ba but da-da was his first word.

Dale on the other hand grunts more then he babbles. Lately his grunts have taken on a more babble-like tone and sound a little more like English. But I'm going to go out on a limb and say his first word is "Yeah." If you ask him a question or make a declarive sentence he will say "yeah."
"Dale, you want lunch?" Yeah.
"Dale, you want Mommy to read to you?" Yeah.
"Do you have poopy pants?" Yeah.

Dale defenately gets more frustrated that he can't tell you what he wants. I need to work harder with the sign language with him. He gets gets excited when you know what he means. Currently eveything is up because he can now point up and the balloons are up and I'm standing up and up gets him out of the high chair.

Last night I noticed that he's finally starting to realize that I keep saying the same thing when he points to certain pictures. When he points to Pooh- I always say "Pooh Bear." You could see the light turning on in his head. "Hey I get it! That's Pooh Bear and this is an elephant!"

Old McDonald and other Random Thoughts

Let's see...Chip still has a small hernia. It's smily face shaped right above his belly button! (kinda funny if you ask me). So that's why his belly button still sticks out so much. Dr said it will grow smaller once the hernia closes. Chip was 20 lb 1 oz at his appointment yesterday. He's also 29.5 inches tall.

Single parenting sucks. You need to prepare for everything. And while I may be organized enough to make a list, it doesn't mean I do what's on the list!

FYI: They now have new fertility drugs that vastly decrese your likihood of having multiples. AMEN! Love My Twins, wouldn't trade them for the world but not sure I want another set!!

Dale is really whinny right now. He cried when you put him down and he doesn't want down, he cried when you pick him up and he doesn't want up, he cried when you take away a toy he shouldn't be playing with. He throws a hissy about being in his car seat. He hates to be in his crib. He hates to be in his high chair. He hates to be in the stroller unless he's in front.

Old McDonald, when sung with your spouse, will entertain fussy kids for at least 15.7 miles or at least until you get off the highway and quit singing.

Note to self: It's time to buy some kids music cds and place in the car or learn the rest of the words to these silly songs!

I Once had time...Now I have twins

Like the title? I got a liscence plate holder at the Twins Day Festival this year that says the same. It's just so gosh darn true!

Once I used to be able to run errands after work, get my hair cut, goto the mall, go work out- now? I must run home and immediately get dinner started or suffer the rath of two crying, obviously starving Toddlers who didn't get 3 hours of required sleep at day care because it's too noisy there.
