Electrochemical Job Opening at Energizer

Energizer is seeking an engineer for battery development in their Lithium Product Group. This is an exempt position at Energizer's Global Technology Center in Westlake, OH. The successful candidate will apply electrochemistry, materials and engineering principles to battery design concepts and conduct product and process experiments. The position requires the generation and evaluation of new engineering or scientific knowledge through the use of DOE and statistical analysis techniques to execute experiments that lead to new or improved products or processes. Energizer will also look for the candidate to develop and recommend technical approaches to accomplish Technology objectives. The employee must be able to acquire knowledge of the pertinent technical literature, as well as be able to monitor competitor product improvements and intellectual property. It is expected that work will be performed in a team environment comprised of both internal and external partners across multiple disciplines, culminating in regular written documentation and oral presentations which both assess and record the progress of the work. The employee will supervise and develop 1-3 non-exempt colleagues and provide annual appraisals of their performance and developmental feedback. They will mentor others and provide technical and project leadership, and will be expected to participate in establishing Intellectual Property related to assigned programs. Travel requirements are estimated at a 20% level.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Material Science. 1-5 years experience in product or process engineering strongly preferred. Candidates must be authorized to work full time in the U.S.

PREFERRED SKILLS: Design for Six Sigma, Statistics and Design of Experiments, computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint and familiarity with battery or portable power systems; Project Management/Team Leadership and Microsoft Project is highly desirable.

Intro to Pharmacy course at John Carroll University

John Carroll University will be offering a teleconference course entitled "Introduction to Pharmacy" (CH195, 2 credits) taught by Dr. Kenneth Hale of The Ohio State University this coming fall on Tuesday evenings from 5-7:30 p.m. We will hold class only the first 10 weeks of the semester, beginning on August 30. The course will take place here at JCU with Dr. Hale teaching from Columbus. The course has no prerequisites and is intended for students wishing to explore the history and options for a career in Pharmacy.

Dr. Hale would like to extend an invitation to students from neighboring schools as well. So, if you may be interested in registering for this course, please contact me for more information and help guide them through the cross registration.
