University of Akron's Department of Chemistry

Stipends are available for a 10 week summer program of undergraduate research in the areas of Analytical, Biochemistry, Inorganic, Organic, or Physical chemistry. General information about the department, faculty, and their research descriptions can be found on the web at

Requirements: Undergraduate standing, with preferably two years of chemistry. Preference will be given to chemistry majors, however outstanding candidates in any area of science or engineering are encouraged to apply. Applications are especially encourage from candidates at primarily undergraduate institutions and from students who are members of groups underrepresented in science and technology. Participants must be citizens or permanent legal residents of the U.S.

Stipend: Students receive $2000 for 10 weeks, beginning June 6,2011.

This company is seeking a chemist to assist in the their pilot plant. They will be running analytical instruments and evaluating the efficiencies in production and comparing it to the pilot plant level.
- Chemist in the Akron area

- Advanced degree preferred

- Organic chemistry/synthesis background required

- Pilot plant experience required

- Scale-up from bench-top to pilot plant to production

- Use HPLC, GC, UVvis


Position 2 (Akron)
This company is seeking an Analytical Chemist to perform method development in an FDA regulated environment.
- Minimum 2 years experience in method development

- Experience operating a GCMSD, HPLC and GC

- FDA experience is preferred

- Experience analyzing GC headspace
