Chemistry Week Activities at CSU
Caltech Summer Amgen Scholars Program

Caltech's Amgen Scholars Program is geared towards students in biology, chemistry, and biotechnology fields. Some of these fields include biology, biochemistry, bioengineering, chemical and biomolecular engineering, and chemistry.
Eligibility: Students must be current sophomores through non-graduating seniors, must be attending a four-year university, and must be U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents. A minimum GPA of 3.2 is required.
Support: Amgen Scholars will receive a $5500 award, round-trip air transportation, a generous housing allowance, and a food allowance.
Application: Online applications are due February 15, 2011.

Dear Colleague:
I would like to call your attention to the American Chemical Society International Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program (ACS-IREU) for students majoring in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Materials Science, and other Chemistry related fields. This program is funded by the National Science Foundation, in partnership with the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD), the German Chemical Society (GDCh) and the European Chemistry Thematic Network (ECTN).
Eighteen students will be selected to receive the ACS-IREU Scholarship to conduct research at selected institutions in Germany, France, Italy and the UK. Detailed information and online application and recommendation forms can be found on our web site www.acs.org/ireu.
In addition to providing a quality research experience for all undergraduate majors in the chemical sciences, the program has a mission to help students develop a global scientific perspective, establish international collaborations, gain exposure to a different culture and language, and participate in research projects of high current interest and potential for publication.
To qualify, students must be US citizens or permanent US residents, be rising juniors or rising seniors at the end of the program, and have one semester or summer of prior research experience. Although helpful, no foreign language expertise is required . All qualified students, including females and members of underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply.
