No Longer California Dreaming...
By Ashley Horton – Senior Center – Akron, Ohio
Our trip [Dec. 27] to California started out with a mad rush to the gate in Cleveland because there were massive lines at check in due to the holiday travel. We arrived to the gate and they had already started to board. The four and a half hour plane ride out west was extremely long, but worth it because when we landed, we were greeted by warm weather and sunshine. It was Beth's [Andrasik] first plane ride, so I think she was just happy that we landed safely.
After arriving to our beautiful hotel we were starving, so we went across the street to a mall for lunch and looked around briefly, but everybody wanted to relax before our two-mile run to a nearby harbor that afternoon. That evening, we went to a team dinner and a movie. We saw “P.S. I Love You” - it was a tear jerker. By the time the movie was over, we just wanted to go to bed. It had been an extremely long day.

Today [Dec. 28] was much better! We slept in and were able to practice for an hour. Practice went extremely well. The rest of the day we spent relaxing. The team spent the evening on Balboa Island, going to all of the shops. We took a ferry ride over from the mainland. I can now say that I have been to the Pacific Ocean.

I am looking forward to the rest of our trip. We are planning on going to Hollywood, a Los Angeles Clippers [NBA] game and Disneyland. I am mostly excited about our games [Dec. 30 & Dec. 31]. I hope we play two great games and come back with two wins!

Sounds like you are all having a great time. You are not far from my home town, Huntington Beach, and where Rob and his brother were born. Good luck with your games. Stay healthy. Have you heard half the boys team got food poisoning yesterday, including Rob. It's going to be a tough game at 5:00 today.
