Last Days in Sunny California...
By Colleen Martin – Junior Forward – Rocky River, Ohio
After our overtime win against Widener, what better way to celebrate than to go watch some professional basketball on New Year's Eve in California.
The Los Angeles Clippers vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves was an adventurous night for the Case Western Reserve women's basketball team - starting with our lovely seats in the nosebleeds. Then we sprinted around the Staples Center in search of Anna Taylor's wallet which happened to be in the bag on her back. Our next encounter in those hallways occurred when we were kindly approached by two gentlemen who offered us free tickets to a suite on the second level. As we entered this awesome location, we realized that these were the same guys who were on the jumbotron whipping their shirts around their head...nice.
News Year’s Day started off wonderfully. Since our team is like a family we did not want to leave anyone behind, so some of us had to double up in a quite comfortable position during the Matter-horn Mountain Bobslide Ride in which I shared a nice squeeze with Mary, she purposefully broke my sunglasses as she was reaching for an abominable snowman.

The team then went on to ride Space Mountain and watch the "Honey, I Shrunk the Audience" 3D movie. The day ended with the excitement of getting to ride the Indiana Jones Adventure. As we waited in line for one hour and 20 minutes we had some great team bonding. However, due to time constraints we were unable to enjoy the ride, leaving just moments before our turn.

We then linked hands and whiplashed through the entire amusement park, receiving cheers from bystanders. To our relief we made it to the bus in time, but we had an extra half hour to sit in the cool breeze with flip flops and t-shirts on while our bus driver camouflaged himself with all the other buses in the parking lot right in front of us.
The night ended with a really fun circuit in the fitness center that was almost as exciting as waiting in line for the Indiana Jones adventure and not riding. Fortunately, our cravings were satisfied as we were treated to the Cheesecake Factory.
We all can't wait to return home to the blizzard where we have to where more than a t-shirt. Overall this trip has been superb and we've had some pretty amazing moments that some of us will never get to experience again, at least not with each other, which is what has made the trip everything it was.
