Baseball Team Heads Back North...
Kevin Haley – Senior shortstop/pitcher – Kent, OH
Well, we finally got a conference win. The last few days have been tough, we went from beating Emory in Atlanta a week ago in our first game to losing our next seven games. We have lost big, we have lost heartbreakers, and in the end, they all feel the same…frustrating. Against Rochester, though, we finally put one together.
Fry was stellar, going eight innings, allowing only three runs. We also got our first hits before a fourth inning so far this season. It’s the little things…
Was it perfect? Absolutely not. However, we got a solid performance from a starting pitcher and we came through when it mattered, a lot the same way we beat Emory. Now we have a chance to play spoiler and beat the top team in our conference…again. UAA champs? Not this year, but it’s about pride now, and continuing to build upon what we have been doing since October.
Everybody seems excited about getting back to Ohio, we seem to be getting sick of perfect weather and not having to worry about school work. (That would be sarcasm) Can’t say I wouldn’t like to stay and extra day, or 12, play some more and forget about all my other responsibilities.
The Madden tournament is going well. Simon lost early, which is great, because maybe he will shut his mouth for a minute or two (doubtful). My Cinderella run was cut a bit short, due to a first round loss to Coach Mac in what has been called the worst game in Madden history. Okay, so maybe it wasn’t a Cinderella story, I am just bad.
Tomorrow is a big day. We’ll be leaving the good old Hampton Inn in the morning for another showdown with Emory. We’ll see if we can’t rock and roll our way to another win behind Kyle Silk, and head back to Ohio on a good note.
Get some.
