Mullins puts Playstation aside, concentrates on Baseball and Books...

By Freshman Catcher - Chad Mullins - Fredericksburg, OH

Here we are a little over half way through the season, and while 7 wins isn't as many as we would like to have, we are improving, as evidenced by the fact that no one got hit by a pitch and then swung the bat over the past weekend. We were supposed to play our first home game on March 21, and although I enjoy riding to the away games with the "Blue Van Group" it was nice to finally get some action on the Nobb (go ahead and say it Silk).

It felt good to break out of our funk offensively on Tuesday while taking two games against Bethany. I felt like we really needed a game or two like that to get us going and give us some confidence. My hunch was proven to be correct when we scored 15 runs against Hiram the next day. We have now won 3 of our last 4, and have been one timely hit or defensive play away from winning a few others. Maybe our hard work is paying off, or maybe it's the honey roasted sunflower seeds my grandparents brings to every game, either way I like where this team is headed, and I am excited about what the future has to hold for us. With the dedication and determination that the team has shown so far I expect our cohesive, uplifting movement to continue.

I feel like we are starting to come together as a team. The dugout has become livelier of late and we are starting to enjoy ourselves while we play the game. We have a wide variety of characters on our roster including some you would expect find on a menu at a restaurant (Cheeseburger, Steak, Carndog, Big Mac, and Fry). We also have some famous entertainers (Chip the Ripper, Corky Ramono, Big Philly Style, Faber Fav, and everyone's favorite Ninja Turtle Rafael), and we have three explosive personalities (Dynamite, Cannonball, and Blitzkrieg).

School has been stressful lately, with a round of tests just gone by and final exams looming on the horizon. At first I was wondering how I was going to keep up with my classes during baseball season, but I have found that by using my time wisely and giving the PlayStation a rest it's really not too bad. Baseball has provided a nice break from sitting in my room doing homework, and allowed me to enjoy the nice weather and get my mind off the rigors of the engineering core.

I think I speak for the rest of the team when I say that I am looking forward to the rest of the season and getting through the last 12 days of class.

Well that's all I have, so allow me to end this like we end our huddles.

... Get Money!
