I was recently moving some Eudora files from one machine to another and ran into a problem. When Eudora started, it did not use the ini file to load the setting, the inbox was emtpy, and the options for the other boxes was grayed out. Turns out, the fix was very simple. Eudora wants to install to c:\program files\qualcomm\Eudora. In this case, the original install location from the beginning machine was c:\qualcomm. When I put the files in the C:\qualcomm folder on the new computer, everything worked.

Hopes this helps someone!

There have been some questions regarding the EECS MSDNAA program and the versions of Vista that we are going to publish. As the MSDNAA administrator, I wanted to address a couple of those questions:

1) What versions of Windows are available and how can I get them?

I keep almost every different version of pre-vista Windows (both desktop and server) on the EECS MSDNAA site. It is to allow developers to test applications on any Windows platform they choose. We also have products like SQL and Visual Studio out there to support classes that require their use. The whole purpose of allowing access to all that software is to aid in research that might use one of the products.

IMPORTANT NOTE--the EECS site is only for EECS students. I get a lot of requests for Vista from students outside of the department. You will need to wait until you can get it from the Campus. Sorry.

For now, the only version of Vista we have is Vista Business.

2) Will Vista Ultimate be available?

As for Vista Ultimate, it is not going to happen. The campus has no reason to allow it on the software center and the MSDNAA package does not include it. While a number of students want to use it, I seriously do not think it will ever be available for free through the university.

3) Is the x64 version of Vista available?

The software is part of the MSDNAA package, but I do not have a version that I can publish to the students. As soon as I do, I am going to put it on the site.

I hope this helps to clear up some issues and questions that you might have.

As one of the Admin for the EECS Computers, I often wonder what features, functions, software, or other options could be added to our labs that would help students in their pursuit of Academic Excellence. If you use the Olin 405 - Jennings Lab, Virtual Worlds Lab, the Olin 703 lab, or the Glennan 308 Lab, please take a second to post your comments as to how we can improve service or support. While we might not be able to implement all the requests, at least you would get the chance to find out why something is not done or what is coming up in the near future.

Thanks for your time
