Equal Rights
During the last MGMT 250 class we discussed ADA, equal opportunity employment, and affirmative action. Personally I don't think that the gender, sex, handicaps or religion should play any role in getting a job. The only exception is if there is a justified reason that they shouldn't be working in this job, ie: needs to lift 75 lbs. However I think that the reason you don't see certain types of people in certain jobs is they know they wont get the job, but don't want to deal with the legal issues. I think that this issue needs to be addressed, in the report we read the lady denied the job at least sought legal action, but I feel in most cases this dose not happen. I don't know if there can be is any way to make it so people don’t feel the need to not apply for a job or not pursue legal action. Yet I do know that if we don't realize that only a few people actually take a course of action to ensure that they have a fair chance at getting a job, then we continue to hire under qualified people, because others meet a certain stereotype associated with the job.
