Genzyme Biostatistician Job Description
Job Responsibilities/Department Description:
We seek a statistician to be actively involved in analysis of pre-clinical data, experimental design, and development of novel statistical methodology for high through-put biological data. This individual will have a broad knowledge of statistical methodology and be eager to apply this knowledge to drug discovery and development in a highly collaborative environment. The candidate will interact closely with informatics and laboratory scientists in multiple disease and functional areas. Primary responsibilities will focus on statistical analysis of high through-put screening, microarray, and protein array data, as well as pre-clinical drug discovery studies. Responsibilities will also include adaptation of standard statistical methodology and/or development of novel data analysis methods for modern high through-put screening technology. The position involves significant time performing applied statistical analysis, programming, and collaborating closely with researchers.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a PhD in Biostatistics/Statistics or Bioinformatics/Mathematics with a BS/MS in statistics and 1+ years of experience working with biological data; or requires an MS in Biostatistics/Statistics or Bioinformatics/Mathematics with a BS in statistics and 3+ years of experience in Biostatistics or Research Informatics.
2+ years of experience using one or more of the following statistical packages: SAS, S-Plus/R, MATLAB/Statistics Toolbox.
2+ years experience programming in Perl, Java, or C/C+.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated problem-solving ability in non-clinical statistics.
Working knowledge of drug discovery and development processes.
